My Review

In the beginning I thought this book started off kind of slow and boring but I can say with a joyful heart that it is worth reading until the end. Finding Hope did something that no other book I have ever read has done and that is make me cry. I have read many emotional books but I have never cried while reading. I’m sure it’s because I felt a personal connection to what Olivia was going through.

I believe Olivia was a very strong person and like many of us she beat herself up about the small things. I know personally how faith can pull you through anything. Once she found her faith and she fell in head first. It was inspiring and true to what it’s like for most people who are young in their faith. You hunger to be fed as much as possible as soon as possible. And then you are tested. You are giving a chance to make a choice. To choose to keep moving closer to the Lord or further away.

I believe that God gave Olivia exactly what she needed when she needed it. I have personally been in a relationship I thought I wanted but God showed me I was doing it all wrong. I was later guided in the right direction after I decided to put my wants aside and put him first. I am glad I listened. I also have had a loss that was devastating. I lost our son at 22 weeks. He was born September 25th 2009. I was in shock looking at his little body. I held him as he took his first breath and I held him as he took his last. It wasn’t easy but I know for a fact that if we wouldn’t have lost him that day then we wouldn’t have our daughter. I learned that day that I have an incompetent cervix. We had a long 9 month journey with my daughter but she is here and she is healthy.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that is either comfortable or curious about Christianity. I also recommend this book to anyone that is having or has had a life changing event and just needs that reminder that you are not alone. I really enjoyed it.

I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. This book is loosely based on my mom’s life (Mom is Olivia, I’m Joy), she really did lose my brother when he was 5 months old. We wanted to encourage people who are walking through dark times that they’re not alone, and there is hope. Thank you so much for sharing Finding Hope on your blog!
